What Wood You Do?

The Government is drawing up plans to sell of up to a third of land owned by the Forestry Commission. These 1.85 million acres of woodland are our children’s inheritance. You can sign a petition to help stop this

Winter Gardens

Your own garden may be looking wintry now and perhaps a bit bare. Why not go and look at the landscape gardens to see how winter foliage looks on a grand scale. You can get a dose of fresh air and sunshine at the same time. Kidsinthegarden has a number of suggestions about Gardens to Visit with your children.

but check with individual gardens for admission details. You might also like to try Painshill Park in Cobham, Surrey which has free admission on Wednesdays in January 2011.

Xmas Books Ideas

Kidsinthegarden top recommendation for a children’s  book this Christmas is an old favourite, an Eden Project Book,‘The Global Garden by Kate Petty.  Suitable from 4+, to quite a bit older, it explores how plants are grown throughout the world and how they are used.  It is great visually and includes lift the flap and pop up features.  Click on the image for further details.  Great fun for everyone.  Buy this and you will not be disappointed

Also great reads are ‘Eddie’s Garden’ by Sarah Garland, ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’ by Vivian French and ‘The Tiny Seed’ by Eric Carle.
